There are endless articles about when to break up. A quick Google search comes up with signs pointing to a breakup, weighing options on when and how to end a relationship. And rightly so, because quite honestly, breaking up is a big step.
These articles talk about the importance of connection, congruent values, and matching life goals. In short, everything there is to say on the subject has already been written. However, something was missing in all of them.
How do you know if you have to break up in person? At what point are you obliged to explain reasons for separation in a face-to-face conversation?
Why I should have pulled a fade-out
Honestly, I’ve never been a fan of ghosting. Especially since this happened to me before. While I was thinking, everything was going smoothly. He vanished from my life without an explanation. Seemingly out of nowhere, he cut off all communication — and it really bothered me. But looking back, I knew that it was over, and I didn’t need his reasons why. This is probably also why today, especially when thinking about my last failed attempt at dating, I look at fade-outs more favorably. Here’s why.
